IAI Persis Garut Holds International Public Lecture with Prof. Dr. Abdel Mougits

Garut, August 13, 2025 – Institut Agama Islam (IAI) Persis Garut successfully hosted The International Public Lecture, featuring an international speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdel Mougits, M.A. from Ibnu Thufail University of Kenitra, Morocco.

The lecture, titled “The Objectives of Sharia from the Potential Birth to the Complete Birth”, explored in depth the objectives of Islamic law from the stage of potential birth to the complete birth.

Uniquely, the program was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join offline at the IAI Persis Garut Hall or online through digital platforms provided by the committee. This approach enabled broader participation from academics, students, and the general public. This event is moderated by the moderator and translator, Dr. H. Azis Asmana, Lc., M.Ag, Head of the Master's Program in Hadith Sciences at IAI Persis Garut.

The event was attended by lecturers of IAI Persis Garut and approximately 200 participants in total, both onsite and online. This strong attendance reflected the enthusiasm of the academic community and the public for discussions on maqashid al-shariah.

In his remarks, the Rector of IAI Persis Garut, Dr. Tiar Anwar Bachtiar, M. Hum emphasized that the event was part of the university’s commitment to bringing international scholarly insights to the local academic community. “Through this international lecture, we aim to broaden horizons, enrich our scientific treasures, and strengthen the ummah’s understanding of maqashid al-shariah,” he stated.

The event was open to the public and free of charge, providing a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing and academic exchange.
